Time for Tough Questions

Another friend emailed this to me and I was like, “Wow”. I’ve edited and tweaked it for the web. Just doing my part to pass on this timely message. Peace.

  • Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt.
  • Candidate B is Winston Churchill.
  • Candidate C is Adolph Hitler.

Pretty interesting isn’t it?

Remember:

Amateurs…built the ark.
Professionals…built the Titanic.

And Finally, can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

  • 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
  • 7 have been arrested for fraud
  • 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
  • 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
  • 3 have done time for assault
  • 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
  • 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
  • 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
  • 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
  • 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year…

Can you guess which organization this is? Go on, take a few secs if you need it…

It’s the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

Know all the facts, think before judging someone……And vote.

Update: As I mentioned earlier, this post is based on an email that was sent to me, and I found the message so timely that I quickly posted it. It was pointed out to me today that some of the facts maybe inaccurate, so I did some research and decided to remove one of the questions. As for the stats, to be honest I’m not sure where they came from. However, Congress is made up of imperfect people, and that’s the whole point. Nonetheless, what’s important is the message behind this post. Thanks for reading. 🙂

David - thanks for your comment, but don't be so quick to curse the US. I admit that those thought have crossed my mind also, where I thought Senator Obama was just another politician,... but to be fair, he did invest millions on this campaign. It would be foolish to think that after all the time and money spent, that he would never play the political game. It is only inevitable. I m just glad that he doesn't play as dirty as some of other candidates, whom shall remain nameless.
David April 28, 2008 - 7:52 pm
That was amazing...and eye opening. I'm tired of the business as usual politics in D.C. I thought Obama would be the breath of fresh air we need. But, he is more of the same, the same Democrat in the George McGovern mold. Democrats and Republicans alike are all in it for one thing; to keep themselves elected. I'm convinced they are not interested "We the People". Both parties are for their parties. The USA be damned.

daretoeatapeach and tokenfatgirl, thanks for your comments. Hi Tootie, I can't speak for the original author of the email, but my intention for posting this is to relay a message that I think is very important - think twice before passing judgment. During election time, it is so easy to take "facts" about candidates lives and manipulate them. This is very deceptive, and a huge distraction.
TootieLizardTush April 25, 2008 - 7:30 pm
I was referring to the human race. It never occurred to me it had to be defined in any other manner. That entire email is extremely biased pitting the weakness of one side against the strength of the other. There is no other message to garner from it really except that it amused it's original author to do so because it suited their purpose. Putting in all the facts and eliminating the incorrect ones would make for a dull email to send around the net I guess.

Great post. This is why I believe we should base our votes on the issues and not on silly personal things. Token Fat Girls last blog post..banana nut smoothie

Hi nomdeplume and Jesus, thanks for your comments. Jesus - that is the point... it is deceptive.. Sadly, this type of deceptions happens often and many people fall for it. I purposely hid the answers to see if any readers would ask for more information on the candidtaes before making a decision, but so far none have. Instead I have gotten either surprised reactions or anger when they discover that the person who sounded like the best candidate is as you say a "psychotic anti-Semite".
Jesus April 24, 2008 - 1:13 am
It is deceptive to list only Roosevelt and Churchill's faults while listing only Hitler's strengths. Candidate C is also a psychotic anti-Semite who believes that he is the messiah.

TootieLizardTush Says:As an educated race we do our country which provides free education for all a great disservice in the eyes of the world. As an educated race? Just what educated race are you referring to? White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American? I would hope you meant to say an educated country.
daretoeatapeach April 22, 2008 - 1:27 pm
I wouldn't base my decisions on character at all. I would choose the candidate who had the best plan for my country. daretoeatapeachs last blog post..J.K. Rowling’s Reckoning is Beckoning

Hi all thanks for the comments. Barbara, Geoserv - I had the same initial reaction. I was so moved that I felt compelled to share this email. John - Thanks for the heads up. I received the email from a friend and I admit that the last thing on my mind was to do research on it. The information seemed possible, so I posted it. After I read your comment, I decided to check out snopes.com. After reading about Beethoven, I decided to remove the first question because the facts were off. However, after I dug a little further, I found out that even snopes.com was not completely accurate. According to Wikipedia he was Maria Magdelena's 2nd child , not her 3rd. Anyways, I removed the question all together because I felt the rest of the post still made a good point without it. As for Hitler, it turns out that the examples listed above are accurate, but taken out of context to make a point. By looking at those "facts", one would assume that the person being described was a kind hearted individual, but from history we know the truth. In reality, he was a veteran, he was vegetarian for a period of time due to stomach ailments, he drank occasionally and stopped smoking in his later years. He also had his affairs outside of marriage. But now that we know who this is describing, does it make a difference? Sources: http://www.snopes.com/glurge/twoquestions.asp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism_of_Adolf_Hitler http://constitutionalistnc.tripod.com/hitler-leftist/id1.html TootieLizardTush - The intention for posting the email wasn't to begin propaganda. The message behind this post is one everyone needs to think about. And that message is to not judge people based on random facts from their lives that could easily be taken out of context.
Xetheare April 22, 2008 - 1:34 am
Hitler was NOT a vegetarian.
TootieLizardTush April 21, 2008 - 10:08 pm
While there is rarely any smoke without fire, I think any post like this that has obviously not been researched by the poster and sites no sources just displays as ignorant propaganda. As an educated race we do our country which provides free education for all a great disservice in the eyes of the world. I am sorry, I didn't find the post interesting but actually just sad that someone would be so quick to post almost anything without first checking any facts. Unfortunately now it has been posted, so many more will go on to perpetuate this erroneous information until it becomes gospel on the net.
steve f. April 21, 2008 - 9:50 pm
Love the facts, haven't checked the numbers, but seem to me as quite possible.
John April 21, 2008 - 2:50 pm
Do you have a citation for those House numbers? Any time "last year" shows up in a piece of information that is clearly being passed around over a long period of time, that info is suspect.
John April 21, 2008 - 2:48 pm
Interesting, but not really true. Quite misleading in fact. Go to Snopes.com and type in "hitler" and look for the second or third entry which describes this "questionl." You will see how easily people can be manipulated into believing anything.
