Grace while Driving

Before I continue, I must point out that driving is not one of my favorite activities. I’ve gotten a lot better about it, to where I currently drive 45 minutes to 1 hour drive each way to get to work. Nonetheless, it is not something I usually look forward to doing.

It was a bright and sunny morning, and I was driving to work. I saw that the next light had just turned yellow and it was only a few yards away. I considered slowing down, but on impulse decided to go for it. The light turned red as soon as I reached the stop line, but I kept on driving. When I got half way across the intersection, I noticed 2 cop cars were in the process of making a U-turn. The right thing to have done would have been to slow down and let them go… but my foot had other plans. Before I knew it, I was pushing on the gas and going faster, forcing the cops to stop turning. As soon as I passed the cop cars, I thought to myself, “Oh crap, what have I done?…”

Both cop cars turned into my lane and started following me. My heart was pounding and I kept thinking, “I’m gonna get a ticket, I’m gonna get a ticket, I’m gonna get a ticket…” Then suddenly, for reasons I still don’t understand, both cop cars moved to the right lane and went about their business.

Thank God for Grace.
