Wow, I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last wrote a blog post! I started 2016 with so much excitement about blogging again, and then life happened. Before I knew it, almost a years has passed and it’s now Christmas day. To my defense, I have been more active on Facebook this year then any other year. In addition, I’m now ready to take it to the next level, and start posting to multiple places at once.

I won’t make any promises or declarations on how often I’ll be blogging. I have to set myself up for victory. However, I am determined to increase my online social network. I’m also working on improving my health and want to start posting about my journey. So, stay tuned. In the meantime, may your holidays be happy and safe. Blessings to you.

In case you’re wondering what makes me an expert on faith, I ask you this: Don’t we all have authority to share lessons that we’re learning? I never made any claims to be a scholar or a guru. I’m just a woman who is seeking the truth and trying to understand the life she has been given. Along the way, I thought I’d share some golden nuggets that were passed on to me.

What led to these lessons on faith?

For many years, I always would get this feeling of magic around Christmas time. I never had any proof of any miracles ever happening around that time of the year, but this sense of wonder would aways overtake me. Then a few months before Christmas in 2005, August 26 to be exact, I would finally get a chance to see if Miracles do happen during that time of the year. That night, my mom walked into the ER thinking that she was having an asthma attack. She would later suffer a cardiac arrest due to Pulmonary Edema – water in the lungs caused by a failing heart.

I watched my mother die that night. I also watched the nurses resuscitate her. I remember thinking, “She is still alive because we are meant to learn about miracles.” I wasted no time in praying for her to heal. My brothers and his church prayed for her also. To top it off, I had ministers from other churches praying and I hired energy healers to work their magic. For months we prayed and fasted. So what do you think happened?

It’s now 2 days before Christmas in 2007, and I’m thinking about my mom at the nursing home. That day she walked into the ER was the last time I saw her walk or heard her talk. My mom has been in a minimal conscious/vegetative-like state since that night. Doctors say that the lack of oxygen to the brain for such an extended period of time caused a lot of brain damage. And even after all the prayers and healings, there has been no significant change.

So what’s the deal? Why wasn’t my mother instantly healed? Can or does miracles still happen today? Also, if they do happen, how do we produce miracles at will like Jesus or Paul did? How do we provide healing to people with physical conditions like my mom or amputees? These questions and more have racked my brain for the past 2 years. In the process of contemplating the answers, I’ve learned a lot along the way. My plan is to share my lessons with you in future posts and my prayer is that you are both challenged and inspired by them.

Before we continue, let me set the record straight. I don’t consider myself a Christian. The reason why I don’t consider myself a Christian is because I don’t believe that Christianity, or any religion for that matter, hold the key to heaven. I won’t go any further for now, because this topic alone is a whole article in itself.

In case you’re wondering what my beliefs are, I do believe in God and that Jesus is the Son of God. However, I also believe that the purpose of Jesus’ teachings was to show us that we too are daughters and sons of God. I’ll take that a step further and say that I believe that our purpose on this planet is to discover the truth about who we are. My theory is that the more we discover about ourselves, the more we become like Jesus. Like Jesus, we will one day be able to instantly heal the sick and raise the the dead. So why aren’t we doing these things now? This question I also plan to address.
